Reliance industries which have previously dominated the telecom sector with its cheap mobile data plans. JIO Launched its Gigafiber broadband system on Thursday 7th July 2018 to sink roots into the country’s wireless and fixed-line internet industry. Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani said the company will begin registration for its fiber-to-home service this Independence Day.
India might be racing toward the next global economy but, ranks quite low on global ranking for fixed broadband services to consumers. Jio’s long-term vision to move India to among the top five in fixed-line broadband might come true soon.
Since its launch in 2016, Jio has been a leader in India’s telecom sector by offering free calls and cut-price data plans, forcing rivals such as Bharti Airtel to respond with prices cuts of their own to encourage customers.
Reliance’s new fiber network, Jio GigaFiber, will be rolled out in 1,100 cities and will potentially connect 50 million homes, enabling consumers to use smart solutions such as real-time services and connected devices.
Since, its news rival firms like Airtel, DEN, Hathway have removed FUP on broadband plans to have customers engaged. And also offering up to 20 percent discount for subscribers opting for its six-month and yearly broadband plans.
