The condition of travel on Shiradi Ghat stretch has worsened over a period. The Shiradi Ghat stretch would be closed for traffic until further orders.No vehicles would be allowed on the Shiradi Ghat stretch till the restoration work was completed and the authorities felt that the road was not safe for the vehicles Movement.
Current Shiradi Ghat Status?
Landslides have happened at 33 spots all along Shiradi Ghat road. Debris clearance operations are going on a war footing. But in a new twist to the problem, the earth under the highway to is caving in at several places, endangering the road itself. This development has worried those who frequently travel between the city and Bengaluru.
At several places, huge mounds of earth and boulders have spread on the highway on Shiradi Ghat stretch. Several machines have been engaged in a clearing operation, but huge trees and boulders which are precariously poised above the road give jitters as they can slip down anytime.
When will Shiradi Ghat Open Operation?
The work might get over in a few days and the stretch might be open for traffic after August 25 if Hassan Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri, Superintendent of Police Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad and other experts gave a green signal.
